We are looking for a Ground Segment System Engineer to work with us at EUMETSAT’s premises in-Darmstadt, Germany, providing expert system engineering support across all phases (0/A through E) of ground segment and subsegment development, integration, validation and operations.

Tasks and Responsibilities
The tasks and responsibilities of the Ground Segment System.Engineer will include:
- Implementing Phase 0/A and B activities: feasibility and requirements consolidation, preparation of Preliminary Requirement Reviews and Ground Segment System Requirements Reviews.
- Executing Phase C/D tasks: compiling Critical Design Review data packages, managing qualification and production readiness (Integration, System & Acceptance Test reviews).
- Supporting Phase E operations: assessing system performance, anomaly resolution (participation in ARBs), and managing change-control processes (ECPs, ETs).
- Planning and executing I&V campaigns: defining validation control documents (VCDs), I&V plans, test specifications and procedures, and contributing to validation activities.
Skills and Experience
- University degree or equivalent in system engineering, aerospace engineering or a related technical-discipline.
- At least five years’ proven experience in system engineering roles for large, complex Earth observation- or satellite ground segments.
- In-depth knowledge of ECSS standards and system-life-cycle processes.
- Experience managing complex requirements structures and verification via VCDs.
- Proven ability to prepare ground-segment documentation: requirements engineering, design specs, IV&V planning and execution.
- Systematic approach and capacity to plan work, manage tight schedules and juggle multiple priorities.
- Excellent technical-writing skills and ability to rapidly absorb and apply new information in a dynamic environment.
- Solution-oriented mindset, customer focused communication, and a desire to work both autonomously and within an international, multicultural team.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
