The company is also currently facing a 30-day suspension of its manufacturing and dealer licenses in California for deceptive marketing about Autopilot’s capabilities.
The company’s lawyers blame the driver (who settled with the victims separately) for the crash, and the plaintiffs’ lawyers for “overwhelming” the jury with “irrelevant evidence.”
Instead, a jury awarded plaintiffs $242.5 million in compensatory and punitive damages.
