We are looking for a Communication and Social Media Expert to work with us in a cutting-edge technology project, providing expert services in the communication channels for our space spin-off and AI-driven solutions.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Communication Planning
    • Develop and maintain annual communication plans.
    • Provide regular updates to reflect evolving priorities and activities.
  • Content Creation and Editorial Support
    • Write and publish high-quality articles for websites and digital platforms.
    • Create engaging scripts and coordinate the production of short videos or podcasts.
    • Design and deliver infographics, social media content, and other editorial materials.
    • Identify opportunities to promote content across relevant external channels.
  • Media and Public Relations
    • Support media relations for high-profile events and campaigns.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely messaging.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting
    • Collect and analyse key performance indicators related to communication activities.
    • Contribute to reporting and insights to demonstrate impact and guide improvements.
  • Stakeholder Liaison and Coordination
    • Maintain regular contact with project teams to identify communication opportunities.
    • Ensure alignment with branding guidelines and manage internal content review processes.
  • Project and Service Management
    • Prepare and deliver progress reports, tracking effort and deliverables.
    • Plan and manage outreach initiatives, such as online courses and webinars.
    • Coordinate team availability and ensure continuity of service.
  • Compliance and Onboarding
    • Complete induction and training as needed.
    • Adhere to internal quality standards and information security requirements.
    • Support additional communication and editorial tasks as required.

Skills and Experience

  • Communication Expertise
    • Proven experience in communication, media relations, or public affairs.
    • Excellent writing and editing skills for digital and print formats.
    • Ability to translate technical or scientific information into clear, engaging content.
  • Content Production
    • Track record in creating content for websites, social media, newsletters, and campaigns.
    • Experience drafting scripts for videos, podcasts, animations, or infographics.
    • Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and design platforms (e.g. Canva, Adobe Suite).
  • Project Management
    • Experience managing complex communication projects with multiple stakeholders.
    • Ability to coordinate outreach initiatives such as webinars or online courses.
    • Organisational skills to work on multiple tasks in parallel and meet deadlines.
  • Strategic Thinking
    • Ability to identify communication opportunities and contribute to long-term planning.
    • Understanding of branding, tone of voice, and audience targeting.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Strong interpersonal and coordination skills.
    • Experience working with diverse teams and navigating approval processes.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Ability to monitor and report on key performance indicators.
    • Experience with impact reporting and synthesising data into actionable insights.
  • Technical/Industry Background (Preferred but not essential)
    • Experience in sectors such as Earth observation, space, science, environment, or technology.
    • Familiarity with outreach in institutional, scientific, or intergovernmental contexts.
  • Languages and Qualifications
    • Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English (C2 level or equivalent).
    • A relevant degree in communication, journalism, media, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Additional Assets
    • Knowledge of media workflows or editorial planning tools (e.g. JIRA).
    • Experience organising events or outreach for expert and non-expert audiences.
    • Understanding of information security and data handling best practices.
